Happiest Moments of the Semester
It seems so cliche but finding happiness in that smallest things really keeps life simple and easy.
I have had a lot of happy moments this past semester. With the end of the year right around the corner I am using this post to reflect on those times.
I used to journal but find myself doing it less and less. Instead, I take a ridiculous amount of photos to remember the good times. Here I go, scrolling through to reflect on the happiness that this past semester has brought me.
The first snow of the semester in Warrensburg. On January 15th. I spent my day a coffee shop that morning taking in the new and frigid sight. I also enjoy when there’s snow because half the students take to social media to remind Chuck that it’d be best to stay home. I love seeing how creative my peers get, that had me smiling all night.
Turning 21! On January 17 I became legal and that was an all around great day! Since coming to college and having my birthday here, the love I receive and feel throughout the day is indescribable. Everyone was so kind, and of course it was fun to have my first drink out and about with friends.
Sometime toward the end of January I met a new friend, named Emily, in the gym and she has been a motivator, mentor, and like a sister to me. She transferred to UCM this semester and has been thriving in the gym and outside of it. She has been someone who has kept me happy and helped me I’m not.
Ronon, the big bear dog. I him outside the Rec all the time, he is a 175 pound Newfoundland so is hard to miss. However, on January 24 I spent half the morning with him and a friend named Sam. We just talked and cuddled this dog, it was one of the best ways to spend a morning.
The weekend of January 26 I was selected to attend a community advisor conference at the University of Northern Iowa. That was probably one of the top most memorable times of the semester. We got to travel with an amazing group of like minded individuals, meet a ton of new people, and explore a new city and college campus. I also was able to get skills and lessons on bettering myself as a CA.
Fast forward to March 13, not that nothing happened in February, but this was the next photo that caught my eye in my camera roll. I was in Starbucks one morning getting some work done and a husky puppy came in. like inside the facility. One of the employees gave him a little puppy cup of whipped cream and he was enjoying it so much.
Spring break. Although it may not have been spent in Warrensburg, it was almost good because I got to leave for a bit. I got to see friends from home who I haven’t seen in months and had time to take for myself.
More recently, on March 28, a spoken word artist, iCon, visited campus. She was IN-CRED-I-BLE! The way she told her story through poetry and her voice was magical. One thing she said that has stuck with me since then, “Our voices are like coupons, they don’t help us if we don’t use them.” I can say I was so happy after leaving that event because it was a night of peace, love, and vulnerability.
